Where to Eat

Tacombi:

Tacombi, with many locations in New York City, including Flatiron, the West Village and Nolita, is a restaurant that celebrates the Mexican taco culture. Without a clear restuarant name displayed outside, Tacombi is the kind of place that you have to be in the know to know about. When we entered the restaurant the servers were kind and welcoming. We sat down and our eyes were immediately drawn to the guacamole and chips, which we quickly ordered. After a couple of minutes they arrived, and we indulged in the spicy and delectable, appetizer. Tacombi offers a variety of tacos and quesadillas with all kinds of fillings including beef, chicken, pork, and a vegetarian option. We tried several of these which were all enjoyable. I highly recommend ordering the guacamole to start out. For a main dish I would recommend the barbacoa taco as well as the vegetariano taco. Tacombi is a great place to stop in while exploring one of its neighboring areas for lunch or dinner, and is a casual and inviting spot that I highly recommended. For more information and to make a reservation visit Tacombi’s website at www.tacombi.com.

Black Tap:

Have you heard about the latest milkshake craze in NYC? Black Tap with locations in SoHo, Flatiron and Midtown has delicious burgers and fries, but is most well known for its insane milkshakes. It is known by many that if want to go to Black Tap you should be prepared to wait in line for quite a while, the longest wait being quite a few hours. I went to Black Tap on a Saturday afternoon in the summer around 4pm with two friends and was able to be seated within 45 minutes of arriving. Upon sitting down I took a quick look at the menu and immediately decided on the cookie shake while my friends ordered the sweet n’ salty shake and the sour power shake. We sat there anxiously awaiting our chance to indulge in the hottest food of New York City. The huge shakes arrived, and after taking a couple pictures for Snapchat and Instagram we quickly took the first sip. A huge smile overtook my face as I sipped the sweet goodness. The milkshake was delicious, unlike anything I had before. It was definitely worth the wait. To avoid waiting in a long line I recommend going to the location in Flatiron rather than the location in SoHo because the Flatiron location has more seating. Unfortunately, Black Tap does not take reservations so if you are planning to go see what all the fuss is about I suggest being very strategic in timing when you go. Ice And Vice:

Ice and Vice, located on the Lower East Side of New York City is a small yet busy ice cream shop. I went on Friday afternoon, and for a good portion of the time I was there it was bustling with people excited to try this delicious ice cream. I walked up to the counter and ordered milk money ice cream, which is toasted milk with sea salt, and chocolate ganache. I completed this delicacy with a chai spice cone. Not only was it great, but it was unique, something I couldn’t find at other ice cream places in New York City. Ice and Vice offers a range of ice cream flavors, some of which are seasonal, such as Movie Night, which is buttered popcorn ice cream with toasted raisins and chocolate chips. There is so much variety in the flavors that are offered that it is sure to please everyone. Although it might seem a little pricey, I think it is totally worth it and is a perfect way to cool off after roaming the streets of New York on a summer day.

Bluestone Lane:

With many different locations in New York City, Bluestone Lane is a great place to grab a coffee before school or work or to meet friends for a quick lunch. I recently stopped by their cafe on the Upper East Side, and was delighted to find a quiet place to enjoy a peaceful meal with a friend. The service was quick, and I was able to make it in and out of the restaurant in under forty minutes. Their location on the Upper East Side is located on 90st and Fifth, next to the Church of the Heavenly Rest. It is the kind of place that probably won’t draw your attention as you walk up or down Fifth Avenue, but is one I definitely recommend going to for a tranquil meal. For more information on Bluestone Lane and to see a full list of their locations around the city visit their website at https://www.bluestonelaneny.com/.
